Christy’s Magic Iris Snow Globe Card Featuring Penguin Party

Our Holiday Critters challenge will be open until Sunday December 5th at 11:59PM ET. We can’t wait to see your creativity!

Hey friends, it’s Christy with another card for our Holiday Critters Challenge! For this card I wanted to feature the adorable penguins from Penguin Party, and I thought a snow globe just might be the perfect place for them to call home.

I started by stamping out my images, coloring them with Copic markers, and trimming them out with the matching dies.

Then I started on my background. I blended Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink onto the edges of a Blue Jay Cardstock panel, to give it some definition. Then I used the Snowflake Background Stencils and some white pigment ink, like Yeti, to add some snowflakes over top. I splattered that with some Gansai Tambi Starry Colors in the pearl shade, and then set that aside to dry. I also cut the Magic Iris Snow Globe Add-on out of Blue Jay cardstock and gave it the exact same treatment.

While that was drying, I got to work on my Magic Iris mechanism. I die cut that out of Blue Jay Cardstock as well, so everything would match nicely.

I die cut the background panel with the Outside In Stitched Rectangle Stackables and glued it to a Chili Pepper card base. Then I added a snowdrift with the Stitched Hillside Border. I attached the Snow Globe Add-on to the Magic Iris mechanism and adhered them to the card. Then I added another snowdrift, a Chili Pepper base to the snow globe, and accents with Metallic Silver Cardstock.

I glued the igloo inside the Magic Iris window, and my penguins to the rim of the Snow Globe. I finished with some Stardust Stickles on the light bulbs, and some white gel pen snow on the closed sausages.

If you’d like to see how this card came together, you can check out the video tutorial as part of my Holiday Card Series on my YouTube Channel, Christy Gets Crafty. If you haven’t yet entered our Holiday Critters Challenge, there is still some time! We can’t wait to see what projects you’ll come up with!

Thank you so much, Christy! Your Magic Iris card is amazing!

Jessica’s Let It Snow Bears

Our Holiday Critters challenge will be open until Sunday December 5th at 11:59PM ET. We can’t wait to see your creativity!

Good morning!  Jess here with a card for our current Holiday Critters challenge!

To start I blended Speckled Egg, Salvaged Patina, and Peacock Feathers distress oxide ink onto a panel of distress cardstock.  I let it dry and then applied Yeti White pigment ink over one of the Snowflake Background Stencils using a blending brush.  I removed the stencil and let the panel dry completely.

While it was drying I stamped some of the cute bears from Den Sweet Den and Snow Much Fun with River Rock no-line ink.  I used cool grey Copic markers and R00 and did a little no-line coloring of my polar bears.  I die-cut them with the coordinating dies and then die-cut the Giant Let it Snow and one of the Mini Snowflakes from silver glitter cardstock.  I also die-cut two Stitched Hillside Borders from white and Pixie Dust cardstock.

Once my background panel was dry I adhered my hills and then added the sentiment.  I arranged the baby bears as if they were climbing all over the sentiment and added the patient mama bear to the scene to finish the card!

And that’s it!  You one more weekend to get crafty and I can’t wait to see your holiday critters!!  Thanks so much for stopping by and have an amazing weekend!

Jess

Giant Merry Christmas & Penguins! Adorable Inspiration with Joyce

We hope you will join us for this challenge! Make the Sentiment the Star and share your project HERE! This challenge will be open until Sunday November 14th at 11:59PM ET.

Joyce used Giant Merry Christmas in a snowflake stenciled scene with Penguin Party! She inked the background with Distress Inks in Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Blueprint Sketch in a nod to the Northern Lights!

She cut the Giant Merry Christmas in a neutral color that doesn’t compete with the colorful background, but brings it forward as the star of this design! I love how she added a penguin and a string of lights to greeting to incorporate it into the scene! So clever!

Thank you so much Joyce for this fantastic and fun inspiration!
