A Fun Magic Iris Card with our Guest Designer, Nancy!

It’s almost time to celebrate our new Fall & Winter Release! We can’t wait to show you all the fun new products we have coming out soon! Join us at the Lawn Fawn blog for our Big Giveaway Post on Wednesday, September 2!

Our talented Guest Designer, Nancy is back with more awesome inspiration for our Make the Sentiment the Star challenge! Her awesome Magic Iris card has a relaxing theme!

Nancy created an amazing interactive Magic Iris card to celebrate a retirement! I think relaxing on the beach would be first on my list of things to do upon retiring from work!

Let’s let Nancy share about her idea for this card:

I wanted to have a larger scene to build on so I ended up using the Magic Iris Add-On and turned it into landscape style.

Since I made the clouds with white paint I used the Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink to stamp the first sentiment. With this ink you don’t smear the ink on your panel but it stays crisp and black.

I always make bold and bright cards and make use of the space there is on a project. I also love to use different stamps of Lawn Fawn together. Old, new or different seasons it all goes so well together, always! I just love Lawn Fawn so much!

Nancy combined images from Butterfly Kisses, On the Beach, Really High Five, Ahoy Matey and Keep On Swimming along with palms from Hammock and Trees and Palm Trees die sets. She hid part of the sentiment inside the iris and then she finished the sentiment with Oliver’s Stitched ABCs!

Thank you so much for being an awesome Guest Designer, Nancy! Your projects for this challenge have been so brilliant!

You have one more week to enter this challenge. The Make the Sentiment the Star challenge will close at 11:59PM ET on Sunday September 6. We are looking forward to seeing your creative take on this challenge!

Christy’s Crazy Antics Picnic!

It’s almost time to celebrate our new Fall & Winter Release! We can’t wait to show you all the fun new products we have coming out soon! Join us at the Lawn Fawn blog starting on September 2!

Hey friends, it’s Christy here with another card for our Make the Sentiment the Star Challenge. I was itching to revisit the Crazy Antics stamp set again, but this time featuring those cute little ants! I also pulled in images from Unicorn Picnic and the dirt pile “ant hill” from A Bug Deal. I stamped all my images in Jet Black ink, colored them with Copic markers, and trimmed them out with the matching dies.

For my focal panel, I took the Meadow Backdrop: Portrait and die cut it out of some Bristol Smooth Surface cardstock. Using the Cloudy Stencil, I blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide into the sky. Then I used Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn for the grass. I also added some splatter effect for a little extra detail.

I adhered that to a Mermaid card base and spelled out the word ANTICS with Finley’s ABCs in both Raspberry and Chili Pepper cardstock and glued them together slightly off-set so that the Chili Pepper became the drop shadow. I adhered that across the sky, and white heat-embossed the rest of the sentiment onto a strip of Black Licorice cardstock. Then I filled in the rest of my scene with those adorable food-heisting picnic interlopers!

If you’d like to see how this card came together, I have a video tutorial for you on my YouTube channel, Christy Gets Crafty.

I hope I’ve inspired you to get crafty yourself and make the sentiment the star! We can’t wait to see what you create! The Make the Sentiment the Star challenge will be open until Sunday, September 6 at 11:59PM ET.

Make the Sentiment the Star Inspiration with Samantha!

Samantha cleverly spelled out hello on a card featuring Smooth Sailing for our Make the Sentiment the Star challenge!

Samantha set the scene by inking the Stitched Wave Borders with Distress ink in Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers. The images from Smooth Sailing and the letters from Quinn’s ABCs were colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and cut out by hand.

To give the sentiment the starring role, Samantha popped up letters to spell hello on 2 of the sailboats. The she white heat-embossed the rest of the greeting on a vellum Fancy Wavy Banner!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful card with us today, Samantha! It’s such a fun and creative take on the challenge theme!

This challenge is open for another week and a half so you have plenty of time to challenge yourself to Make the Sentiment the Star of your next project!
