Christy’s Special Birthday Card

We are happy to welcome Christy today to share an especially fun birthday card!

Hi friends, Christy here with a card for an epic birthday! The leader of my writers group is turning the big 6-0 this week, so I had to make him a card for everyone to sign. Since he writes fantasy, I thought Lovable Legends would be the perfect set to use. I pulled in the bird, cake, and gift from Party Animal, and the numbers from Quinn’s 123s.

I started out by coloring my images with Copic markers and stamped the solid trees with Jalapeño and Noble Fir inks, then die cut everything with the matching dies. Then I built my scene with Meadow Borders, Stitched Hillside Borders, and a cloud from Spring Showers. I die cut my focal panel and my Perfectly Plaid Fall patterned paper with both the Large and Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables and popped my focal panel up with foam tape. The outside sentiment was stamped with Jalapeño ink and the inside sentiment with Merman. I think he’s really going to get a kick out of it!

You still have a few more days to link up your projects for our Outstanding Occasions Challenge! Hope to see yours there!

Thanks so much for sharing with us today, Christy!

A Critters on the Savanna Birthday Card with Jessica

Jessica joins us today to share a colorful birthday card that uses a fun masking technique!

Good morning!  Jess here with my first solo post for Lawn Fawnatics!

I recently purchased the adorable Critters on the Savanna stamp set (I know, I know…I have no idea why it took me so long!) and I couldn’t wait to play with it!  I stamped the baobab tree onto my card base and colored it with copic markers.  Then I fussy cut a mask from post-it tape and placed it over the stamped image to protect it.  I used post-it tape to mark off a vertical rectangle and then blended wilted violet, broken china, worn lipstick, and spiced marmalade distress oxides onto the card base before flicking it with water.  I removed the mask on my tree and set it aside to dry.

Next I stamped my lion and colored him with copic markers before fussy-cutting him.  I ran a black marker over the cut edge to create a nice sharp edge.  Then I stamped my sentiment onto black cardstock with Versamark ink and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder.  I trimmed the sentiment down to a fishtail banner and adhered it to my card.  Finally I added my lion with foam mounting tape and a sprinkling of ombre sequins to highlight the colors of the background!

Thanks so much for visiting today and don’t forget to enter your Outstanding Occasions cards for our current challenge!  Have a wonderful day!
