Summertime Fun Inspiration from the Challenge Gallery!

We hope you enjoy today’s inspiration! We are looking forward to seeing your Summertime Fun creativity! The Challenge 127 – Summertime Fun is a 2-week challenge and will be open until Sunday, July 3 at 11:59PM ET.

Today we are shining the spotlight on a couple of cards in the Summertime Fun challenge gallery! They are each by recent Featured Fawnatics and we know they will inspire your creativity!

This fun card is Bianca‘s version of an amusement park near her home! She combined lots of sets to create a whimsical Summertime Fun scene!
She used: Coaster Critters, Happy Hugs, Life is Good, Ahoy Matey, Spooky Village, Happy Village, Let’s Play, Meow You Doin?

Kathrin put her amazing coloring skills to work creating this design! I’m sure, like me, some your best summer memories involve a campfire on the beach!
She used: Super Star, Crazy Antics, Bubbles of Joy, You Autumn Know, S’more the Merrier, Tropical Backdrop, Palm Tree Border

Big thanks to both Bianca and Kathrin for sharing their fantastic card projects with us. We are so happy that you played along with the Summertime Fun challenge!

Design Team Inspiration

What could be better than a sunny summer day spent at the park? Samantha shows us how the squirrels are having fun at the playground! She combined Let’s Play with squirrels from Let’s Go Nuts and Happy Hugs! She also used Grassy Hillside Border, Spring Showers and Yay, Kites!

One of my favorite things to do when the weather is hot is to jump in a pool! Christy clearly had the same idea with this amazing shaker card featuring Pool Party, On the Beach, Stitched Pond and Stitched Pond Frame! I love the Brick Stenciled patio and how she used All the Dots paper for the pool!

Joyce used our new Tiny Sports Friends set along with Peekaboo Backdrop to create a sports-themed design! Summer sports camps are so much fun, and these little athletes are having a ball!

Karin‘s sweet design features sunshine and flowering trees from Window Scene: Spring! The cute critters from Butterfly Kisses are enjoying a lovely sunny day!

Summer is a great time for swim meets! Catherine‘s super clever design features the cute mice from Simply Celebrate Critters with hand-drawn swim caps! She also included Stadium Seating so the mouse parents can cheer on their favorite swimmer! The pool is a shaker element backed with Stitched Ripple Backdrop. And I love how she added a Bunting Borders banner in All the Dots striped paper.

The critters from Ocean Shell-fie are having lots of fun in the summer sun! Franci used Stitched Wave Borders and Let’s Toast Pull-Tab so the octopus can ride the waves!

Samantha brought the Pool Party critters to the beach for some summertime fun! She used palm trees from Ahoy Matey along with Stitched Wave Borders to set the scene!

The ultimate in backyard summertime fun is a friendly water balloon competition! Mimi brings this to adorable life with the Scent with Love skunks! She used Paint Splatter Background Stencil and more paint splatters from Art Supplies as water and Henry’s ABCs for the greeting! She used Clear Glaze on the letters to make them look “soaked”! The rest of the sentiment is pieced together from a few Plan on It sets!

Here is a list of the clever ways she repurposed stamps from her stash to create all the amazing details for this happy scene: Rub-A-Dub-Dub: tub, bubbles as water balloons, also part of the faucet; Sweet Smiles: knob for the faucet; Beary Rainy Day: puddle and water splashes; Coaster Critters and Year Four: balloons; Happy Village and Winter Village chimney smoke: popped water balloons; Baked with Love: piping bag tip as the hose nozzle.

A favorite childhood memory is a cold, sweet popsicle on a hot summer day! Jenn brought this memory to life with these yummy I Scream, You Scream popsicles! They are inked to perfection in bright fruity colors. She added a greeting from Yay, Kites and the exclamation point from Big Scripty Words. Then she backed it all with woodgrain cardstock cut with Simple Stripes: Portrait.

We will share more Design Team inspiration for you over the next 2 weeks and we’ll announce our Featured Fawnatics and random winner for Challenge 126 – Beach vs Mountains tomorrow! Now it’s time for you to create some summertime fun!

A Fantastic Playground Scene with Mimi!

We hope you enjoy today’s inspiration and join us for the Create a Scene challenge! We can’t wait to see your creativity! This challenge will be open until Sunday, May 1 at 11:59PM ET.

Hi everyone. It’s Mimi here sharing my ‘Create a Scene” playground project featuring the new fruit basket!

I started with a die cut of the large slimline rectangle, the Puffy Cloud Border and a freehand cut of a slimline strip. I ink blended the top of the large slimline rectangle with Lawn Fawn Peacock ink for the sky and the bottom portion with Distress Oxide Tea Dye and Antique Linen ink spattered with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink for the sand. The puffy cloud border and the freehand cut strip were ink blended with Lawn Fawn Jalapeño and Freshly Cut Grass ink for the shrubs and grass. I also stamped a few sand waves from On the Beach with Brushed Corduroy Distress Oxide ink.

I started with the swing set from Let’s Play. I wanted the swing set to be longer, so I extended the swing set by masking one end and stamping it again. I also scaled down the swing to fit the Tiny Friends, so I masked one end of the swing and stamped it again closer. I positioned one of the swings sideways to make it look like Grandma is pushing the girl on the swing.

Next, I die cut the new Fruit Basket die twice and flipped it upside down to create a dome climbing jungle gym. I offset one over the other to give it a little dimension. I added some dots to the climber at the connecting points. I placed a few Tiny Friends climbing and hanging upside down.

The play structure was created using the booth from Coaster Critters. I added a ladder from Cheery Christmas and I used the top portion of the hamster wheel from Wheelie Like You to make the middle bridge. The small slide was made by stamping only the slide railing of the slide from Let’s Play. Lastly, I added a wooden play boat from Ahoy Matey and finished off the scene by adding some highlights with a white gel pen.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my ‘Create a Scene’.

Oh wow, Mimi! This clever playground scene is amazing! Thank you so much for sharing with us today!
