Caly’s Sketch-Inspired Poinsettia Card

Hi friends, Caly here! Thanks for joining us today for more inspiration for the current Card Sketch challenge!  There are a few days left to participate and I hope you’ll play along!  This challenge ends on December 19th at 11:59pm EST.  Are sketch challenges difficult for you?  They used to be for me because I would get really literal, but I’ve learned to tell myself that the sketches are meant to be inspiration – you can interpret them however you like!

The stars can be help you envision a scene, or a background using a different shape.  My card today uses the Stitched Poinsettia dies.  I used multiple poinsettias to create a background over a colorfully inked panel.  Last Monday when this challenge began, I used little wreaths that I die-cut in rainbow colors.  Be sure to check out what the other Design Team Members have created – we share inspiration every day!

I die-cut my poinsettia using the small and medium petals to create smaller poinsettia – there is a larger die too.  I also used the smaller of the two leaves from the Stitched Poinsettia die set to pair with my smaller poinsettia.  I die-cut the red using Chili Pepper cardstock and the centers and leaves using Cilantro cardstock.

To give my flowers more interest, I ink-blended the poinsettia with Lawn Fawn Cranberry Dye Ink and the leaves with Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Ink.  Once all the ink-blending was done, I pieced them together using liquid glue and set them aside to work on a background.

I really wanted my panel to glow and used a new color combination using Abandoned Coral, Spiced Marmalade, and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks.  I attached all my poinsettia and leaves directly to this ink-blended panel and finished by attaching an embossed sentiment from the Ho-Ho-Holidays stamp set and finished with a few iridescent sequins.

I hope you like it!  Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope it inspires you to create!  Remember, the Card Sketch challenge ends December 19th at 11:59pm EST!  Have a wonderful day!

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 114 – Card Sketch

Hello friends! Today is the start of a new challenge that we hope will be lots of fun! Jenn designed a beautiful Card Sketch for you to use to spark your creativity! Feel free to use the sketch literally or see where the inspiration leads!

We invite you to share your creativity by linking up your crafty projects at the end of this post! Your project should feature Lawn Fawn stamps, dies and papers. This challenge will run for 2 weeks and be open until Sunday, December 19th at 11:59PM ET.

For each challenge, we will randomly select an entry to receive a $25.00 gift certificate to the Lawn Fawn shop! We will also be highlighting a few of your fabulous projects at the close of each challenge! By linking your projects to our challenges you will give permission for us to post your work to this blog and our social media sites. Check out the How to Play page for a few guidelines to play along. We want this to be FUN so we’ll keep the rules to just a few!

Let’s see what our amazing Design Team created to inspire us!

Karin was inspired to create this gorgeous design using the sketch literally! She featured Puffy Star Stackables, that she inked and arranged beautifully! Adding the sweet little bird from Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-On makes for charming detail!

Christy got really creative and replaced the stars from the sketch with fun rooftop vignettes in her light-hearted holiday card! She used a combination of Rooftop Border and Ho-Ho-Holidays!

Samantha replaced the stars with the adorable Mice on Ice! She placed them on chunks of ice from Critters in the Arctic and Beary Happy Holidays along with a sprinkling of Mini Snowflakes!

Joyce also used Puffy Star Stackables in creating her super cute sketch inspired design! I love how she used the negative space for tucking in the little Say What? Christmas Critters!

Caly‘s beautiful Christmas card design replaces the stars in the sketch with Mini Wreaths! I love the cheery colors she used with the red berries and bows! She included the lovely sentiment from Snow Day!

Jessica‘s gorgeous card is so amazing! She used bright jewel colors for the String of Lights that stand in for the sketch stars. She placed her sentiment, combining Scripty Merry and Merry Messages, according to the sketch.

Franci‘s pastel Christmas cards are so sweet and happy! She recreated the card sketch with Puffy Star Stackables and Winter Unicorn! The wonderful die cut greetings are from Winter Big Scripty Words!

Samantha created an adorable design with an all-over pattern of cute Ho-Ho-Holidays reindeer! One even has a shiny red nose! She used Distress Oxide inks for the beautiful background! For the sentiment she white embossed a greeting from Toboggan Together on Black Licorice cardstock before fussy cutting it and layering it on the strip of vellum. (If you don’t have Samantha’s impressive fussy cutting skills, you could use the Merry Christmas Border instead!)

Jenn interpreted the card sketch with this frosty Jolly Christmas Tree design! She scattered Stitched Snowflakes over the background, then added the pretty joyful wishes greeting that is found in Winter Scripty Sentiments!

I hope you have been inspired by these amazing projects! We will share more Design Team inspiration for you over the next 2 weeks and we’ll announce our Featured Fawnatics and random winner for Challenge 113 – Holiday Critters tomorrow! Now it’s time for you to get creative!
