Jessica’s Let it Snow Card

Good morning! Jess here with a card for our current Favorite Places challenge! Earlier I shared an underwater card because there’s nothing I like better than being in the water (preferably a turquoise blue ocean) but a very close second for me is walking outside at night during a winter snowfall. I love the crisp feel to the air, the crunch of the snow under your feet, and the absolute feeling of peace and tranquility…especially late at night (like 1 or 2 am) when no one is on the roads yet, the snow is perfectly pristine, and the sky is brightly lit in jewel tones! So that’s the feeling I decided to recreate today!

To start I water-colored a long panel with Mijello Mission Gold watercolors focusing on jewel tones of blue, purple, and pink fading out to pale pink at the bottom. I let it dry and then went back in and added more paint for a really saturated look! Then I let the panel dry completely while I stamped and colored my alpaca from Winter Alpaca with Copic markers before die-cutting him with the coordinating die. I also die-cut the snowflakes from Mini Snowflakes with white cardstock.

Once the panel was totally dry I pressed an embossing ink pad all over it. Then I sprinkled the panel with hologram clear sparkle embossing powder and heat-embossed it. The powder really picks up the colors of the background resulting in a fabulously sparkly look! I tore a strip of white cardstock to create a snowy bank for my alpaca, adhered the water-colored panel to a side-folding white card base, and then adhered the snow and alpaca over it. Then I stamped the sentiment from Winter Big Scripty Words with embossing ink, heat-embossed it with silver glitter embossing powder, and die-cut it with the coordinating die! I adhered that to the water-colored background and then added the snowflakes to finish the card!

And that’s my other Favorite Place! You have one more weekend to get crafty with your Favorite Place creations (challenge closes at 11:59PM ET on Sunday August 19th) and I can’t wait to see what you create! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

A Mountain Scene by Nancy

Hi Fawnatics friends, it’s Nancy here today! I love the mountains, and my favorite place is Hume Lake in Kings Canyon National Park, California! I have great memories of summer camping trips with my family and friends! I made a scene with a fun twist for the My Favorite Place challenge!

I stamped the cute camping trailer and trees from Happy Trails along with Stitched Mountain Borders to create this mountain scene! The greeting is from the coordinating die set for Winter Big Scripty Words cut using Sugar Plum cardstock.

I used a page from an old map book to stamp the trailers and trees. Each trailer was stamped on one of the National Parks I love visiting Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite!

The Favorite Place challenge continues through Sunday, August 19! There’s plenty of time to get in on the fun! We hope you will join us!
Thanks so much for visiting today!

Be Merry Cards with Jessica

Our Emboss Resist technique challenge is open until Sunday at 11:59 PM PT

Good morning!  Jess here with a pair of CAS cards for our Emboss Resist challenge!

I started by stamping the Winter Big Scripty Words sentiments on white cardstock and heat-embossed them with white embossing powder.  Then on my first card I used a sponge dauber to apply circles of aged mahogany, candied apple, twisted citron, and pine needles Distress ink over the word.  I used first and second generation stampings to get the more solid and splotchier stampings and also added a few stampings of Yeti ink.  To finish the card I adhered it to a white card base and added a few iridescent pearls.

For the vertically oriented card I followed the same process but I used the Let’s Bokeh solid circle stamps and used pigment ink to stamp over the embossed sentiment!  I finished by trimming the card down and adhering it to a card base of Chili Pepper cardstock.

And that’s it!  You have a few more days to get crafty and enter Challenge 18!  Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous day!
