Spectacular Skies with Just Dies!

Hi, it’s Nancy hoping to inspire you today! I have always wanted to make a card with just dies. I have come close, but I always wind up stamping the sentiment. So for our Spectacular Skies challenge I made a fun Foursquare Backrop: Portrait design with cute little sky vignettes!

I die cut almost all the pieces from Bristol Smooth cardstock and used Copic markers to add color. Just the palm tree trunk (from Tropical Backdrop) is die cut from Woodgrain cardstock and the cloud from white cardstock. The cloud, moon and sun are included in the Foursquare Backdrop: Portrait die set. The little rainbow is from Shadow Box Card Rainbow Add-on and the raindrops are the Rainy Backdrop!

I used a Clear Star Gelly Roll pen to add the “stars” to the moon vignette and I used silver glitter cardstock behind the raindrops. And I used Sending Hugs Line Border for the win as the die cut sentiment! Yay!

Our Spectacular Skies challenge will be open until Sunday May 3 at 11:59PM ET. The gallery is filling with the most wonderful creativity. We can’t wait to see what you will share!

Now let’s see how our amazing Design Team made their Cards for Guys!

Franci combined the large tree from Christmas Dreams with the snowboarding and popsicle snacking Yeti or Not cutie on her clean and simple design! She added a colorful Offset Sayings: Christmas greeting!

Christy created an amazing underwater Christmas card for her scuba-diving enthusiast brother! She used Christmas Fishes, You Are Sublime and Mermaid for You!

Samantha‘s birthday card features some cool guy-friendly colors to create the inky background for the One in a Chameleon critter! She turned the Leafy Tree Backdrop (die cut from the back side of the Fall Fling 6×6 paper) around to use it on the right side of her card, then she die cut it again from kraft cardstock to layer over the top! She included a Tiny Tag Sayings: Birthday sentiment in a Say What? Pets speech bubble.

Jessica‘s Yeti or Not birthday card is fun and cool and perfect for the guys in your life! She created the awesome mini scene with Stitched Mountain Borders!

If you are in the Southern Hemisphere, Karin‘s card is timely inspiration for you! She used images from Smooth Sailing and created a great ocean scene with Tropical Backdrop!

This charming birthday card by Joyce will make anyone’s day! She added a hat from Dad+Me to the character from Screen Time and made a Fall scene using the trees and apples from Tree Before ‘n Afters! The Build-A-House has a fun brick pattern and some friendly birds from Open Me!

Caly‘s Beam Me Up birthday card has a fun interactive element courtesy of the Let’ Toast Pull Tab Add-On! She created an awesome inky backdrop for this outer space scene!

Clearly our Design Team thinks that snowboarding and yetis are perfect for Cards for Guys! Samantha M added her signature style with an ink blended and splattered background and the stripey accent of black and white! She resisted the pull to add sequins or glitter to keep this fun design guy-friendly!

Jenn‘s Ready Set Snow snow globe design has just enough sparkle to suggest snow but she kept this card clean, simple and colorful! She used a mix of Lawn Fawn ink in Merman, Cilantro and Minty Fresh to create the background. Her snowmen are stamped with River Rock ink for a toned down look!

We will share Design Team inspiration for you over the next 2 weeks and we’ll announce our Featured Fawnatics and random winner for Challenge 63 tomorrow!

Christy‘s whimsical scene combines lots of critter sets, from Critters at the Dog Park to Wheelie Like You and Keep on Swimming, sharing comical antics! The “friends furever” sentiment from Meow You Doin’ makes this a perfect friendship card!

Franci‘s scene is a framed art piece that’s a clever shaker! She used images from Toboggan Together with a cool inky sky background and filled the scene with “snowballs” that move as you gently shake the picture!

Birthday cards are the perfect opportunity to create a cute scene! Here Samantha combined Birthday Before ‘n Afters and Party Animal! Just Stitching Double Rectangles add sweet and subtle detail to this fun design!

Jessica gave her Shadow Box Card scene lots of frosty detail! The Mice on Ice cuties are enjoying skating fun in a snowy scene created with Snow Cool, Forest Border and Chunky Glitter!

Joyce created her awesome Spooky Village scene using a Stitched Hillside Backdrop: Landscape! That awesome full moon sky adds to the cool Halloween vibe!

Karin‘s Shadow Box Card is hanging on to the last bit of summer with a fun Smooth Sailing scene! She added the palm trees and grass from Tropical Backdrop to finish this beachy summer design!

Samantha used the Magic Picture Changer to create a sweet Manatee-rific scene! Her beautifully ink-blended card is a wonderful way to congratulate a newly engaged couple!
