The Cat in the Hat with Samantha!

Be sure to join us the Lawn Fawn blog for Inspiration Week, March 11 – 19!

Hey everyone, Samantha here with a card that is inspired by the current Inspired By a Book, Movie or Song challenge! Growing up I loved all Dr. Seuss books, the bright colors and illustrations were always fun to look at. The stories and how they were written always brightened my day. They always had a positive message, so I wanted to make an encouragement card with characters from the Cat in the Hat

In order to create my Dr. Seuss inspired characters, I needed to pair a whole bunch of stamp sets together. The proportion of the cat head, from the Meow You Doin’ stamp set, fit perfectly on the bunny body from the Eggstra Amazing Easter stamp set. I used the top hat from the Bicycle Built for You stamp set, and extended it to be taller and more whimsical.  The cookie jar, from the Milk and Cookies stamp, set was the perfect shape for the fish bowl. I used a pen to draw lines to replicate the illustration style in the Dr. Seuss books. By adding the linework, it really helped bring the characters to life.

I just love this challenge so much. The design team and current entries are so much fun and so inspiring. You still have time to enter the Inspired By a Book, Movie or Song challenge! The challenge will be open until Sunday March 15th at 11:59PM ET. Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

Karin’s Charming Beatrix Potter Inspired Card

Karin is here to share her super cute Peter Rabbit card for our Inspired By challenge!

Karin’s Beatrix Potter inspired card includes Peter Rabbit from Eggstra Amazing Easter, Jemima Puddle Duck from Rub-A-Dub-Dub and Mrs Tiggy Winkle from Jump for Joy! She used the grass from Gleeful Gardens and Butterfly Kisses and the pail and shovel from Life is Good!

For her one-layer design, Karin first laid out where everything would go then she started stamping and masking (with full sticky back post-it notes). She left the masks in place to blend on ink for the sky and to fill in the grass!

Thank you so much for sharing this amazing card with us today, Karin!
