Hi friends it’s Samantha with some fun inspiration for you. The current challenge is all about summertime fun, and that’s all I needed to know so I could make a card about seashells and the beach!

I started by stamping the images from How You Bean? Seashell Add-On. Then I colored the images in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I decided to do the shells in lots of various shades of pinks! When they were dry; I added some details with a white gel pen and then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I used Distress Inks to ink blend the beachy background! For the ground, I used Ground Espresso, Vintage Photo and Fossilized Amber. Then I splattered the same colors on top, as well as white acrylic ink. for the waves, I used Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Peacock Feathers.

Next, I used some more white acrylic ink and a dry brush, tapping the shoreline to add the foam to the wave! So fun!! It’s my favorite beachy card technique! I used the Sandy Beach Accents to add that extra special detail to the beach, and hidden shells.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white and onto some Black Licorice Cardstock and then popped it up with foam tape. I finished off the card with a sprinkling of clear sequins along the waterline and on some shells! So pretty!

Thank you so much for this cute inspiration, Samantha!

Design Team Inspiration

Mimi mixed and matched so many cute images to create a beach scene with Riverside Backdrop: Landscape! There is the Treat Cart flanked by palm trees from Ahoy Matey. And beach necessities from Pool Party and Car Critters Road Trip. Let’s not forget all the critters, the Veggie Happy mice have taken a break from gardening to build a sandcastle. The Treat Cart bear and Bubbles of Joy mouse are snorkeling while a pair of turtles from Little Woodland Library Friends enjoy the waves!

This Porcu-pine for You family has borrowed images from the Critters in the Desert and I Heart Pandas Add-On for their Southwest vacation! I love how Samantha included a camera for making vacation memories!

What could be a better way to spend the warm days of summer than lounging on a pool float! Joyce‘s Pool Party critters are enjoying a swim in a pool made with Stitched Pond Frame!

Christy‘s ocean critters have traveled on the waves to celebrate a special summer birthday! She stamped a subtle background of fish and seaweed from Mermaid for You, then she arranged the scene with a mermaid and ocean critters from Ocean Shell-fie, You Are Sublime and Fintastic Friends.

To create her fun in the sun design, Samantha combined images from On the Beach and Pool Party and a sentiment from Treat Cart. I love the amazing beach background and the cute critter playing in the waves created with Sandy Beach Accents.

This group of tropical friends from Simply Celebrate More Critters are enjoying a beautiful sunset! Karin layered Sunrise Backdrop with Tropical Backdrop to make an amazing silhouette sunset. Then she added a greeting from Winter Village.

The cute Capybaras are ready to celebrate a summer birthday on Franci‘s clean and simple design!

Mayra had the same thought as Christy, ocean critters taking a trip to celebrate a birthday! She started with a stenciled background using Ocean Waves Stencil and framed the scene with a Reverse Stitched Scalloped Square Window. Then she assembled all the cute critters from Keep on Swimming, You Are Sublime, Mermaid for You, Ocean Shell-fie and Fintastic Friends. She grouped them around the Cake It Easy cake! And then she added a sentiment combining phrases from Duh-Nuh Flip-Flop and Pool Party.

We will have more Design Team inspiration for the Summertime Fun: critters on vacation challenge over the next 2 weeksBe sure to come back tomorrow when we’ll announce our Featured Fawnatics and random winner for Challenge 198 – Up, Up and Away!
