Jessica’s Quiet, Peaceful, Snowy Destination

Challenge 101 Travel Destination/Favorite Place will be open until Sunday, June 6 at 11:59PM ET.

Good morning!  Jess here with a card for our current challenge! The first card I created for this challenge was beach themed as I love traveling anywhere there’s a beach and today’s card is a different favorite place of mine!

As much as I love the beach, I also LOVE snow so my second favorite travel destination or place is somewhere quiet, peaceful, and snowy! I started by die-cutting a hill using the Simple Stitched Hillside Borders and a circle from masking paper. I placed the masks on a panel of Strathmore Bristol smooth cardstock and then blended Shaded Lilac, Blueprint Sketch, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink over the panel to create a winter sky. Then I removed the circle masks and stamped the cute bears from Winter Skies.

I fussy cut a mask of the bears and placed it over the stamped image. Then I placed the hill mask back on the panel as well as the negative mask from the die-cut circle. Then I blended Pumice Stone and Black Soot Distress Oxide ink over the moon to create a little shading. I removed the negative mask and splattered the sky and moon with water and white gouache to create a snowy sky.

Once the background was totally dry, I removed the masks from the bears and the hill. I colored the polar bears with Copic markers and added a few accents with a white gel pen. Then I used cool grey Copic markers to add a little shading to the snow around them. Finally, I finished the card with a sentiment stamped from Winter Skies!

And that’s it! You 2 more weeks to get crafty and I can’t wait to see your favorite places! Thanks so much for stopping by and have an amazing weekend!
Jess
