Glittery String of Lights with Jess!

Good morning! Jess here with a card for our current Bling It Up challenge! If you know my designs you know that I’m ALL about some sparkle and bling in my crafting! πŸ˜‰ Earlier this week I used the String of Lights to create a fairy-inspired card for this challenge (you can find that card here). I had a few lights leftover and decided to create a similar but different card!

To start I die-cut both of the light bulb layers with white cardstock. I also die-cut the tops of the bulbs from silver cardstock from the Holiday Sparkle pack. I used Copic markers to color the top layer of the bulbs (BG10, BG11, BG13 and RV21, RV23, RV25) and then adhered them to the bottom layer and added the silver topper. I attached aqua and silver twine to the backs of the bulbs and then set those aside while I worked on the rest of the card.

I wanted to create the idea of a bokeh background so I used round blending tools to blend cracked pistachio and worn lipstick Distress ink in circles on a piece of Strathmore Bristol cardstock. Then I blended spun sugar Distress ink into any white areas. I spritzed the panel several times with water and iridescent spray for a super shimmery background!

Next I stamped the sentiment from Merry Messages onto black cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed it down to a label and adhered it to the distress inked background with foam mounting tape. Then I adhered the light-bulbs using foam mounting tape and secured the strings to the back of my card panel with washi tape. I adhered the panel to a white card base and then went a little shimmer crazy! πŸ˜‰

I applied a layer of Nuvo crystal glaze to each light bulb and then sprinkled the glaze with Chunky glitter and Prisma glitter. I also applied a light layer of crystal glaze around the light-bulbs and sprinkled it with Prisma glitter for a little extra glow of sparkle. Once the glaze was dry I added a few sparkling clear sequins and pink gems to finish the card! When this card catches the light it’s practically blinding! πŸ˜‰

You have another 2 weeks to enter our Bling It Up challenge and I can’t wait to see your entries! Thanks so much for visiting and have a fantastic weekend!

  2. Ups, posted this on the wrong thing. But i read that metallic paints count so I guess I’m good with rose gold embossing πŸ™‚
