Jessica’s Beautiful Birdhouse

Good morning! Jess here with a card for our current Color Inspiration challenge! I love the colors in the challenge and today I decided to focus on the shades of blue and the icy feel of the photo!

To start I blended Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide ink onto a panel of Strathmore Bristol smooth cardstock. I splattered the panel with water and white gouache to create a snowy background. Then I added snowflakes die-cut from the Mini Snowflakes and Stitched Snowflakes die sets with Pixie Dust Sparkle cardstock. I stamped a sentiment from Den Sweet Den onto dark blue cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder before trimming it down to a thin label.

Next I die-cut the birdhouse and pole from Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-On with Light Brown Woodgrain cardstock. I wanted to soften the color so I blended over the cardstock with white pigment ink. I die-cut the birds and trim from white cardstock and then colored the birds with Copic markers. I used the backside of one of the birds to get a reverse image. I also die-cut the Mini Wreath from white cardstock and colored it with Copic markers as well. I used the following colors for my images:
Wreath – BG72 ,BG65, BG78
Berries, Bow, and Birds – R35, R37, R39, R59, and 1000

I stamped the branches from Frosty Fairy Friends onto dark blue cardstock and heat-embossed them with silver embossing powder. I backed the birdhouse with the dark blue cardstock to create a little nest. Then I tucked one bird inside the house and adhered all my pieces to the snowy panel. I used foam mounting tape for the sentiment and bird to give them a little extra dimension. Finally I added a few accents with a white gel pen to finish the card!

And that’s it! You have one more weekend to get crafty and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fantastic weekend! –Jess

A Cheery Toboggan Christmas with Caly

Hi Friends! It’s Caly here today! The current Color Inspiration challenge is going strong and there’s still time to participate! You have until Sunday, December 20th at 11:59pm PST! I hope today’s card will inspire you! The photo or colors from the challenge inspiration board can help kickstart your project! I’m using the colors for my slimline card today.

I stamped and colored my images from the Toboggan Together and Cheery Christmas sets using Copic markers. These sets go so well together and are oldies, but goodies! The colors I used to coordinate with the Challenge colors from the inspiration board are listed first:
Warm Grays: W1, W3, W5, W6, W7
Blues: B000, B32, B34, B37, B39
Pinks: RV63, B06, RV66, RV69
Yellows: Y21, YR23
Browns: E41, E30, E31, E35, E37
Greens: G43, G46
Red: R39
Blush: R20

After die-cutting all of the images, I added some Glossy Accents to the holiday hats and tree to apply some Prisma Glitter to give it more texture and interest. You can use any adhesive that dries clear – I like Glossy Accents because I can see the coverage best. While that dried, I worked on my background by ink-blending Speckled Egg, Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky Distress Oxide inks on a blank white panel. I used the Stormy Sky just around the edges to darken the top and sides of the panel, and then used that same color to add snowflakes using the Snowflake Trio Stencil.

Next, I die-cut several Birch Trees to color the divots with E31 and E41 ever so lightly. This gives the trees some color. There is a tiny cardinal die that comes with this die set, so I colored it with the R39 marker, then added some black detailing on the face. I then finished the last element of the background by cutting a Slimline Stitched Hillside Border. I used residual ink on my ink-blending tool to apply a bit of color to the top of the hillside piece that I die-cut too.

I stamped my sentiment on the hillside panel, attached the birch trees to the background panel, then applied the hillside border to my background using foam adhesive to give it lots of dimension. The best part for me is to create the scene with all the fun images I colored!

I hope you enjoyed this festive card and are inspired to create! Don’t forget the Color Inspiration challenge ends on Sunday, December 20th at 11:59pm PST! Thank you so much for spending some time with me today! Have a blessed day!

Samantha’s Snowy Den Sweet Den Scene

Woohoo! We are so excited, our new Valentine 2021 Release is in the shop at lawnfawn.com and at your favorite crafty stores!

Hey everyone, Samantha here with a fun Christmas themed card that is inspired by the current Color Inspiration challenge. I love these types of challenges so much because it allows you to use color palettes that you may not typically choose. The palette for the challenge is so perfect for winter and the holiday season.

I created a snowy scene with the adorable bears from the Den Sweet Den stamp set. They are relaxing and enjoying their time together as a family. A freshly baked plate of cookies are the perfect treat to enjoy while passing time before they can open their gifts.

The Sparkle Pixie Dust Cardstock adds a sense of magic to the scene with the glittery texture and shimmer. I love adding the sparkle cardstocks to my projects because it just brings everything to life and enhances it.

You still have time to enter the Color Inspiration challenge. The challenge runs through Sunday, December 20th 11:59 EST.  We look forward to seeing what you create!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!
