Christy’s Wizard of Oz Inspired Card

We hope you are having fun with the Inspired by a Book, Movie or Song challenge and we can’t wait to see your creativity! This challenge will be open until Sunday April 3 at 11:59PM ET.

Hey friends, it’s Christy with another card for our Inspired by a Book, Movie, or Song Challenge! Since the Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie, I wanted to try to recreate one of the most iconic scenes in the film.

I used the girl from Bicycle Built for You as the Wicked Witch of the East, and added in some foliage from You Are Sublime, Critters Down Under, and Butterfly Kisses. I stamped the images in Jet Black Ink, colored them with Copic markers, and trimmed them out with the matching dies.

For the yellow brick road, I blended Mustard Seed Distress Oxide Ink onto a panel of Bristol Smooth Surface Cardstock, then added Fossilized Amber over top using the Brick Stencil. For the grass I used Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, and Rustic Wilderness on another piece of Bristol. Then for the house, I took some White Woodgrain Cardstock, cut it into strips, and distressed it with Pumice Stone. I trimmed the grass panel out with the Large Cross-Stitched Square Stackables, and the yellow brick road with one of the Simple Stitched Hillside Borders.

I layered the yellow brick road in the bottom right corner of the grass panel, added my Wicked Witch of the East, and then glued the strips of Woodgrain Cardstock over top at an angle for the house. Then I added some greenery around the edges of the house, just like you see in the movie.

Then I took a sheet of blue patterned paper from the new Gotta Have Gingham Rainbow Petite Paper Pad that reminded me of Dorothy’s dress and trimmed that down with the largest of the Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables. I adhered that to a Cilantro card base to represent the Emerald City and glued the focal panel on top.

The sentiment I took from Scripty Autumn Sentiments. I white heat embossed part of it on Black Licorice Cardstock and stamped the rest in Lobster Ink and trimmed that out with its matching die. Then to finish up the card, I added some red stickles to the ruby slippers to give them that classic shimmer.

I also stamped one of Dorothy’s friends on the inside. To see which one, you can check out the video tutorial on my YouTube Channel, Christy Gets Crafty. If you haven’t yet entered our Inspired by a Book, Movie, or Song Challenge, there is still some time! We can’t wait to see what projects you’ll come up with!

Thank you so much for sharing with us today, Christy! This design is so clever!

Catherine’s Magical Platform Pop-Up Birthday Card

We invite you to join us for our current All Things Birthday Challenge! It will be open until Sunday, March 20th at 11:59PM ET. We can’t wait to see your creative birthday ideas! Think outside the birthday card box and show us some fun party decorations, gifts and gift packaging.

Hello Fawnies! It’s Catherine here and I am sharing a card created for the All Things Birthday Challenge inspired by magic.

For the Platform Pop-Up Add-On background, I ink blended Tumbled Glass, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot Distress Ink and splattered some gold metallic ink. The Platform Pop-Up was created out of cardstock from the Let It Shine Collection Pack and Woodgrain Cardstock in dark brown.

I added stage curtains and stars from the Shadow Box Card Theatre Add-On die cut with Chili Pepper and Sunflower Cardstock.  The magician, hat, and cape are from the Bicycle Built for You set. I drew a line with a multi-liner on the veil to make it into a cape and added a bowtie from Scent with Love. I put the finishing touches on the magician with a magic wand from Critter Concert and a stool from Merry Mice.

I borrowed the cute bunny from Say What? Spring Critters and put him inside a hat from Hats Off to You. I finished off the card with white heat embossed sentiments from Wavy Sayings and Tiny Fairy Tale, along with magical swirls from You Autumn Know, and abracadabra my card is finished! I can’t wait to see what inspires you!

Thank you so much, Catherine! Your card is so creative, and the magic theme is so much fun!
