Caly’s Starry Sky Swish n’ Pop Inspiration

Hi Friends! It’s Caly with you today, sharing an interactive card for the current Lawn Fawnatics Challenge!  The current theme uses the photo below as inspiration. This theme runs through Sunday September 19th at 11:59pm PT. We hope you’ll get the chance to participate before it’s over!

I was inspired by the image to create a sky scene.  So I water-colored a background to replicate the inspiration board using Daniel Smith watercolors.  Once it was dry, I splattered the panel with white paint to give it more interest to imitate stars.

While my background was drying, I stamped and colored images from the Super Star and Upon A Star sets.  I used Copic markers to color my images before die-cutting them out to begin my interactive mechanism for this card.

        Fox:  E11, E13, E15

        Mouse:  W0, W2, W4

        Bunny:  E40, E41, E42, E43

        Telescope:  C0, C3, C6

        Star:  Y00, Y15, YR23

        Blush: R30

I die-cut clouds using the Puffy Cloud Borders in both white cardstock and vellum to layer them for interest and to hide my Swish n’ Pop Pull-Tab mechanism.  Be sure to check out the Lawn Fawn YouTube channel to see how the mechanism is put together – it’s really easy!

I used a shooting star for my moving image and embossed the tail lines on vellum using white embossing powder.  Once my mechanism was put together, I attached my images to create my scene.

I finished today’s card by embossing a sentiment in white over black cardstock.  I love interactive cards and hope you like this one!  Thanks so much for visiting!  You still have a few days to participate and I hope you will make some time to create!

Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful inspiration, Caly!

Samantha’s Adorable Woodland Classroom!

Hey everyone, Samantha here with a card that is inspired by the current Back to School challenge! I always loved the beginning of the school year. It was so much fun to get new supplies and find out what friends were in your classes. Another reason why it is so great is that fall is right around the corner!

I created a fun woodland scene with the most adorable critters. The classroom is on a large stump, from the Forest Feast stamp set, and the owl teacher is joyfully welcoming the new students. The teacher’s outdoor classroom is full of books, a fun banner, and a chalkboard.

I created a small chalkboard by hand cutting small two rectangles layering them together. I didn’t have to worry about having a perfect frame all the way around the base rectangle, because the tree branches would cover the sides. Then I layered a small strip of cardstock on top of the rectangles for the chalk holder. The hello, from the Speech Bubbles set, was the prefect size for a welcoming message on the chalkboard!

You still have time to enter this super fun challenge! The Back to School challenge is open until Sunday, September 20 at 11:59 EST. It is always so amazing to see all of the creative projects that are submitted!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day!

This sweet card is so inspiring! Thanks so much for sharing with us today, Samantha!
