Samantha’s Beam Me Up Card!

Samantha M. created an adorable card combining Beam Me Up with Out of this World! These two sets are a perfect match! Her “new technique” isn’t a technique so much as a new style for her. She usually only uses white cardstock for her card fronts but for this card she used gray!

For a fun technique, she used the Snowy Backdrop die to make a stencil to apply embossing paste creating raised stars in the background! She added some fun color to the edge with a just a peek at some Really Rainbow paper!

Check out the great dimension and colorful detail on this fabulous birthday card!

Thank you so much Samantha for sharing your delightful card with us today! I’m sure it will inspire lots of us to try something new!

Our current challenge will be open until Sunday, March 4 at 11:59PM ET. Check out the Design Team inspiration and enter the challenge HERE! We hope you will join us!

Christy’s Hay There Birthday Card!

Hey friends, it’s Christy here with a card using the newly released Hay There stamp set. Our latest challenge is to Try a New Technique, and though Ink Smooshing has been around for ages, I thought I’d try out one of the oldest versions of it, using an acrylic block.

I covered my acrylic block in four shades of Distress Inks and spritzed it with a little water, then pressed it onto some watercolor paper and set something heavy on top of it four a few minutes to allow that ink to really soak into the paper. Then I water-colored my images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and die cut them with the matching dies.

Once the background was dry, I tore it to give it a deckled edge, then layered it over a piece of Gotta Have Gingham 6×6 patterned paper, which I tore to match. To finish off the card, I stamped the chicken, chick, and egg all over the card base with Sunflower ink, then layered my patterned paper and focal panel over top.

If you would like to watch the process of how this card came together, you can check out the video on my YouTube channel, Christy Gets Crafty.

What new technique have you been anxious to try? You still have plenty of time to enter Challenge 23 – Try a New Technique! We can’t wait to see what you create! This challenge is open until Sunday March 4 at 11:59PM ET.
