Jessica’s Cute and Fishy Back to School Inspiration

Good morning! Jess here with a fishy card for our current Back to School challenge!

I decided to use a school of fish as the basis for my card! I started by stamping the teacher shark and a ton of fish from Duh-Nuh onto a panel of Strathmore Bristol smooth cardstock. I also stamped a few fish onto a separate piece of white cardstock. Then I stamped the shark and the fish a few times on a stack of full sheet post-it notes and fussy cut them to create masks. I placed a mask over every stamped image to prep it for ink-blending!

Next I used the Hillside, Ocean Wave, and Scene Builder: Bayou stencils to create a background on the stamped panel. I used tumbled glass, peacock feathers, blueprint sketch, and chipped sapphire distress oxide ink for the waves, chipped sapphire for the bayou, and antique linen and tea dye distress oxide ink for the sand. Then I splattered water across the panel and a little watered down gathered twigs and tea dye distress oxide ink across the sand. I dried it with my heat gun and then removed all of the masks!

Then it was time to color! I used Y32, 35, and 38 for the fish and also colored the separately stamped fish before fussy-cutting them. I used neutral grays for the shark. Then I die-cut the sentiment using Finley’s ABCs and Black Licorice cardstock. I adhered the letters across the panel and then added a few of my fussy cut fish in and around the letters. In hindsight I wish I had one more fish to add above the L but we’ll pretend he’s running late today! 😉

Next I stamped the rest of the sentiment from Thanks a Bushel onto Black Licorice cardstock and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed it down to a thin label and adhered it to the card. Finally I used a black glaze pen to define the eyes of the fish and shark and finish the card!

And that’s it! You have one more weekend to get crafty for Lawn Fawnatics Back to School challenge and I can’t wait to see what you’ll create! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

A Den Sweet Den Card with Ivy!

Today we are sharing a charming card from Ivy, one of Fawnies from Lawn Fawn HQ! She took some time out from packing Fall & Winter 2020 orders to create a super cute window card as inspiration for the Back to School challenge! This challenge will be open for one more week and will close at 11:59PM ET on Sunday September 20. We hope you will join us!

The new set Den Sweet Den has cute bears and books that are perfect for creating a fun learn at home scene! Ivy used the Stitched Dens die set to create a window card, with a peek inside the bears’ den!

The cute 3D apple that Ivy used a photo prop was crafted with Outside In Stitched Apple Stackables!

To round out this adorable scene, Ivy borrowed the tree stump from Forest Feast and some apples from So Owlsome and Thanks A Bushel! The “wall art” is the Reveal Wheel Square Window Add-On with a hanger from Mini Picture Frames. The cute bee is from Meadow Backdrop: Portrait, so clever and cute!

Ivy continued the scene on the card front with another bear and stack of books both from Den Sweet Den. The Thanks Teacher Line Border is the perfect sentiment to thank a dedicated teacher!

Thanks for sharing this fun window card with us today, Ivy!

Franci’s Thanks a Bushel Card!

Franci joins us today to share sweet inspiration for our Back to School Challenge!

Card Instructions from Franci: I created my card out of white cardstock and I stamped the Gingham Backdrops on the front with the Kiddie Pool ink. Then I cut a panel of white cardstock and die cut the Stitched Border at the top before I stamped my sentiment on it. I also added a panel of kraft cardstock a little bit bigger in size at the back and I attached them to my card base with some foam adhesive. I stamped, colored and die cut the images from Thanks a Bushel and Jump for Joy and glued them down as well.

Thanks so much for sharing this brilliant card with us today, Franci!

The Back to School challenge will be open until Sunday, September 20 at 11:59PM ET. We can’t wait to see your Back to School cards and projects!
