Mimi let her imagination go to fun places as she created this Card Sketch inspiration for you! Her brilliant design features Wood You Be Mine?! She will explain her process in her own words.

I die cut the Meadow backdrop and trimmed off the top grass portion. Then I ink blended with Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink and splattered some Rustic Wilderness ink as well.

I also ink blended a short strip for the top of the card with same colors and blended the edges with Walnut Stain distress oxide ink.

For the circular part of the card sketch, I created a beaver dam using the Fruit Basket die for my frame. I trimmed the middle of the fruit basket die off. Ink blended with Walnut Stain distress ink. I also inked blended a small piece with Walnut Stain distress ink to put behind the dam.

I stamped many branches from Jump for Joy in Doe and Walnut dye ink and cut out using the coordinating dies. Then I layered the branches over the fruit basket frame. I added a few tiny branches with leaves from the new Wood You Be Mine as well.

I die cut 2 pieces of the Large Stitched Rectangle. With one of the rectangle pieces, I trimmed in half and ink blended both with Prize Ribbon distress oxide ink. Next, I heat embossed the waves (from Wood You Be Mine?) with white embossing powder. Then I stamped 2 lakes from Dad + Me with Prize Ribbon distress oxide ink to border the beaver dam.

I wanted the heart that the two beavers were holding to be wood-like, so I masked off the beavers and stamped the Woodgrain Backdrops to the heart. The sentiment was also heat embossed with white embossing powder. As a final touch I accented images with white gel pen.

Thank you so much, Mimi for sharing your cute and clever inspiration with us today!

Mimi’s Clever Chemistry-Themed Card

We invite you to share your Color Inspiration projects by linking up your photos HERE! Your project should feature Lawn Fawn stamps, dies, stencils and papers and use the inspiration colors. This is the last weekend for this challenge which will be open until Sunday, September 18 at 11:59PM ET.

Mimi put her amazing creativity to good use making this chemistry-themed design! And of course, she used all the rainbow shades of the Color Inspiration! She used the Beary Rainy Day bears, leaving their raincoats white to serve as lab coats! So clever. Be sure to check out the supply list below for all the sets that Mimi combined to create this fun scene.

The great sentiment along with the flasks and test tubes are from the Science of Love set.

Below, Mimi shares the steps to make this chemistry lab scene.

To create the blackboard:

-I die cut 2 medium Mini Slimline stackables, one with Lawn Fawn black licorice cardstock and the other with white. I inked blended the edges of the white cardstock with Vintage Photo distress oxide ink. I cut out the inside out to create the frame for the blackboard.

Chemistry images on the blackboard are from Plan on It: School (calculator, mini flask, atom) Plan on It: Spring Cleaning (bubble trio, recycle image) Just Add Glitter (ruler) stamp sets.

-I heat embossed all the images with white embossing powder and colored in with colored pencils.

Chemistry formulas made from trimming the honeycomb die from Hive Five Kit Honeycomb Shaker Gift Tag set and adding letters around.

Molecule made from the bubble trio (Plan on it: Spring Cleaning) and connecting them with a white gel pen.

Bunsen burner apparatus made using the net handle from Butterfly Kisses Flip Flop, flame from S’more the Merrier and the burner from the rake from You Autumn Know stamp sets

-Stamped and colored flask/test tube images from Science of Love in rainbow colors.

Heat embossed the sentiments with white embossing powder.

Test tube rack was made using the laptop die from Pop-Up Desk die set.

-Added a connecting tube (die cut from Screen Time wire) between the blue and purple flasks.

-Stamped and colored bears from Beary Rainy Day. Kept their tops white to look like lab coats

Eyeglasses from Dad + Me.

Thanks so much Mimi for this amazing inspiration! And for sharing your brilliant combinations to make your ideas come to life on this card.

Lawn Fawnatics Challenge 126 – Beach vs. Mountains

It’s new challenge time once again! As we head into summer in the Northern Hemisphere, vacation plans are being made! Are you looking forward to time at the beach or maybe you prefer a tranquil mountain getaway? For this challenge, create a project that reflects your happy place. Is it the beach, the mountains or maybe even both!

We invite you to share your creativity by linking up your crafty projects at the end of this post! Your project should feature Lawn Fawn stamps, dies, stencils and papers. This challenge will run for 2 weeks and be open until Sunday, June 19th at 11:59PM ET.

For each challenge, we will randomly select an entry to receive a $50.00 gift certificate to the Lawn Fawn shop! Everyone who enters a challenge has a chance to be the random drawing winner! Woohoo!

We will also be highlighting a few of your fabulous projects at the close of each challenge! By linking your projects to our challenges, you will give permission for us to post your work to this blog and our social media sites. Now let’s check out our Design Team members’ favorite place between beach and mountains!

Catherine makes it clear that the beach is her favorite! Her adorable sandy shaker card features the bears from Snow Much Fun and Den Sweet Den enjoying fun in the sand! She set the scene with Palm Trees and images from Life is Good, On the Beach and Dad + Me. She spelled out SAND with Henry’s ABCs before adding acetate and glittery “sand” to create a fun shaker element!

Looks like Christy loves a relaxing day fishing at a mountain lake! At least the cute Den Sweet Den bears do! She used Stitched Mountain Border and the “lake” from Dad + Me along with images from Toadally Awesome, Swan Soirée and Beary Happy Holidays to create a cute card for dad!

Samantha lets us know that hanging out at the beach is a “swell” way to spend the day! She combined Den Sweet Den with Life is Good and, On the Beach, to make this charming scene. I love how she inked the background to give a hint of sand and surf!

Franci‘s clever Shadow Box Card shows the new Simply Celebrate Critters dogs living their best life in a mountain meadow! She included Shadow Box Card Mountain Add-On and Park Add-On along with the Mushroom Border to create her favorite place!

Joyce brought the Pool Party critters to the beach in this adorable scene! She added some ink blending to create the ocean and sand before letting the critters choose their activity either sunbathing, snorkeling or lounging on a float!

Mimi did some super clever repurposing to create this sweet canoe scene! She turned the grill from Let’s BBQ into the cute little canoe that’s perfect for the Crazy Antics mice. Then she used images from Let’s Roll to build the boat dock, so clever! She created those awesome southwest mountains with rocks from Mermaid for You, Christmas Fishes and Big Thanks.

Samantha set the scene for sandcastle building fun with Ocean Shell-fie, On the Beach and Life is Good. For the inky background she used Distress Oxide ink in Kitsch Flamingo and Prize Ribbon before layering Palm Tree Border on top!

Karin‘s gorgeous card features the “You Goat This” goats in an amazing mountain scene! For the background she used Over the Mountain Borders. But Karin couldn’t decide between the Alps and Aruba. Check out the next card…

For this nod to her favorite island, Karin combined Flamingo Together with Palm Trees dies. I love how she created a little scene for the mini slimline card!

Was there any doubt that Jenn would create a beachy or ocean themed project? She created these two fabulous mini slimline cards using Smooth Sailing. The ocean scenes were made with Ocean Wave Stencils and Stitched Simple Wavy Borders.

We will share more Design Team inspiration for you over the next 2 weeks and we’ll announce our Featured Fawnatics and random winner for Challenge 125 – Dies Only tomorrow! Now it’s time for you to create your happy place!
